As the ten ‘Order of Heroes’ in this year’s Gulder Ultimate search (GUS V), make last minute preparations to launch major assault on Awgu Hills and Jungles in Enugu State for the ‘Lost Chronicle’, the recap of past editions of the nation’s number one reality TV show were highlighted last night with some of the very rigorous selection processes contestants passed through to participate in the top reality show.


As usual, Bob Manuel Udokwu, presenter of this year’s edition of the show dwelt on the main theme “The Lost Chronicle”. The Abuja and Benin regional selections of candidates for the GUS as well as the strenuous selection exercise at the Sea School, Apapa for GUS 2 were highlighted. The final arrival of the finalists at the chilly Obudu Hills in 2005, were brought to public focus once again.


It provokes quick reminder and major exploits of such players in the GUS like star actor, Chidi Mokenme who anchored the show in Obudu Hills like he did at the Snake Island in Lagos in GUS1 and contestants like Chi-Chi, Anita and Ifeoma who emerged the Last woman standing when the golden gate shut against her from going in for the final search. Her invocation of “open sesame was to no avail. It equally featured how the problematic totem cost Sammy his eviction from the ultimate search and how the dreams and high expectations of Voughn in the GUS were dashed when the other contestants voted for his eviction. Lucas eventually won the crown of the Ultimate Man in the challenge when he displayed Martins in the onerous search for the lost treasure- Helmet.

A preview of the GUS 3 in the rain forest of Ikoloba jungle, near the Nigerian Institute for Oil Palm Research (NIFOR) in Benin also featured for the viewing pleasure of the public. It brought a quick reminder of such weak characters like Comfort who voluntarily opts out of the competition to save her skin from further punishment in the jungle. But winners they say, don’t quit. It also revealed how Hector pulled the big surprise on Tope to emerge winner of the 2006 GUS. Other major players in that edition include: the fleet legged Charles, Lynda who emerged the Last Woman Standing, Marian, Edward, Patricia and Boma who went down as the very first male to suffer the first eviction in the history of the GUS.


Last night episode also featured clips from GUS 4 at Shere Hills, Jos with Bob-Manuel Udokwu taking over from Austin Tintin, as the new presenter of the show. It played back sweet memories and exploits of the contestants like Kimberly who emerged the Last Woman Standing, Lauretta who was first to be evicted in that edition of the GUS, Folashade, Buchi, Laura, Oge and of course, Dominic Mudabai who emerged the Ultimate Man. The episode last night was however silent on how the Ultimate men emerged in each of the editions 2, 3, and 4. watch out to night for this interesting aspects of the GUS.   

There was also spotlight on the selection and screening exercises conducted in Enugu, Owerri, Abuja and the Sea School in Lagos. The episode last night also highlighted how Ezeugo, Lucas, Hector and Dominic won the crown for the Ultimate Man in GUS 1,11, 111 and 1V. The show is now set for this year’s titanic search for the ‘Lost Chronicle’ with N7 million cash reward, N500,000 wardrobe allowance and a brand new SUV for grab.
