The battle for entry for this year’s edition of Gulder Ultimate Search (GUS V) in Awgu Hills , Enugu state, continued at the Sea School, Apapa, last night on the ultimate reality show.

The 40 selected would-be contestants from the six regional selection exercises across the country were shown as they under go more rigorous training exercises to determine the fate of 18 of them, fit to go in for the finals. Ten strong and fearless contestants are selected for the ultimate search every year.

At the Sea School, the contestants were made to jump from the very height of a stationary ship into the big sea on a life jacket. It was evident that such exercise was not meant for the weak and chicken hearted as some were noticed to withdraw into their shells from taking the deep plunge. The forty contenders later took turn to give reasons why they entered for the GUS with majority of them emphasizing the lure of the millions and fame.

Another revealing aspect of the exercise was the mental task of finding the right solution to the riddle on GULDER LABEL, the popular lager brand of Nigeria Breweries Plc (NB) and main sponsors of the ultimate reality TV show. The contestants were made to work in groups, apparently to display their strength in team work and their mental abilities.

The episode also featured the GUS aspirants undergoing more training exercises on scaling through major obstacles and hurdles like crawling under the barb wires, climbing, jumping and swinging across major barriers with the rope and negotiating an almost impossible route in time of danger or threat to life. scaling through the high rise wall however occurred to be the most problematic for most of the contestants. It will be interesting to know which among the contestants made it to the last and final rounds of the selection exercise.
