“Biola, Rita, the council of elders have decided that you are hereby (pause)…instructed to go back to the camp, pack your belongings to one side, and wait for further instructions”. With that, eviction has become inevitable and may start taking its toll on the heroes as they battle the hardship and difficult terrain of Awgu Hills, in search of the ‘Lost Chronicle’.

Both culprits were found culpable for their inability to execute a task. In fact Biola tried and eventually gave up while Rita equally made good efforts but had a fall; necessitating the prompt attention of professional medical team on stand by at the hills. She could not turn up to join her other team mates to complete the task. She was said to be receiving “professional treatment from the medical team” by the presenter, Bob-Manuel Udokwu. It all happened on the Gulder Ultimate Search V, reality TV show last night, now running every evening on popular national and cable television networks across Nigeria, Africa and beyond.

Place of the Talking Drum

Rita showed up at the place of the Talking Drum with her co-contestants. While some described the day’s task as hectic, some said it was strenuous but interesting. For Rita, “It was bad for me”  she declared. On the performances of the contestants Bob noted that some performed well while some performed badly. “we realized that two people performed abysmally”. He noted as he ordered Biola and Rita to go to their camp, pack their belongings and await further instructions as others continue the meeting with him. Who knows what is going to happen next? Other contestants were later instructed to cook very delicious meal that they (Rita and Biola) will eat and give them to their satisfaction. They are also to make sure that they are “comfortable”. Now, the fear of eviction looms. Who gets booted out of the ultimate search first?

That is not all. There is another undisclosed instruction which was handed over to Brain, the Totem bearer. It is only to be made public after meals have been served and consumed and the heroes have adequately discussed their mistakes on the day’s task. “You (Brain), will open and read the instructions therein to everyone, loud and clear.” Said Bob. Who knows what the new instruction is all about?...expect the unexpected only on the GUS.

It was both individual and group task. The teams (“A” and “B”) were instructed to run down the hill one after the other with an empty basket, fill it with palm kernels and run up the hills to cross a narrow bridge, constructed with a single log of wood. Members of the opposing team constitute major barriers by the bridge side, shouting and hauling sand bag on the other team member crossing the bridge to push him or her down. If a team member carrying the basket of palm kernel falls off the bridge, he or she returns to the starting point to begin the journey all over. The team with the bigger heaps of accumulated palm kernels wins.

Others went through the Herculean task successfully but for Rita and Biola. Linda also had a fall but she came out strong to accomplish the task with her palm kernels intact.

Earlier on the programme, there was a recap of the previous day’s episode, followed by heated arguments. The heroes returned from the day’s task only to discover that their camp had been taken over by ants. The shelter they erected was still in terrible shape and it became a subject for debate. “Shelter, food, water, we don’t have any” laments one of the new heroes. They could only hope for food the following morning.

Another phase of the contestant’s resume featuring their family and educational backgrounds, likes, dislikes and ambition in life was highlighted.

At the place of the Talking Drum, they entertained with their new song but the presenter frowned at it and instructed them to go back and do more work on it. leave Akuna Matata out of it” he told them.
