QUE: What initiated the Gulder Ultimate Search (GUS) ? ANS: In 2004, GUS was created as an innovative platform to relaunch the Gulder brand. ANS: In order to extract the best of the best out of our massive pool of applications, all prospective applicants must first scale through the on-line screening process. After this, all qualifying applicants are then invited to pass a physical screening in one of our regional screening locations. At each screening location all applicants must then undertake and pass mandatory swimming and fitness exercises and then a thorough medical examination. Once these hurdles have been crossed, the successful applicants are invited to Lagos where they undergo further fitness and training activities at the citizenship and leadership training center (Sea School). Then they undergo two further interview and assessment stages until the final 10 are announced in Lagos. QUE: Is GUS open to all regions in Nigeria or is it just a Lagos-based selection? ANS: Because GUS welcomes diversity and also the need to ease the stress of applicants traveling lengthy distances, we have created regional selections in several states and not just in Lagos. Application to participate in GUS is therefore open to everyone from every state. QUE: Which company sponsors the Ultimate Search? ANS: Shere Hills was deemed perfect as the location for GUS4 mainly because of its ideal terrain. The rocky hills, marshy grassland and unusual weather conditions ensures that nature’s challenge on the contestants would be a mighty force to reckon with. QUE: What security and medical facilities/personnel are on ground for the show? ANS: On ground for medical support for the duration of the show is Critical Rescue International (CRI). Private security companies with support from the Nigerian Police ensure the safety and security of all contestants and personnel.
